The taster day will give people uncertain about beekeeping the opportunity to gain an insight into the craft of beekeeping by means of talks, demonstrations and as much practical beekeeping as time and weather allow. You will learn about the costs and time involved with both theoretical and practical teaching. HRBKA will endeavour to give people the experience of seeing inside a working hive; however it must be remembered that beehives can only be opened in good weather and practical work cannot be guaranteed.
The purpose of the Taster Day is to enable you to decide whether or not beekeeping is for you. If it is, then HRBKA would recommend that you join your local Beekeeping Association and/or book yourself onto the HRBKA Long Course for Beginners starting in January.
Each Taster Day will commence at 10.00am and conclude at about 4.30pm. Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day. Please bring a packed lunch. Protective clothing will be provided on loan, however you need to bring your wellington boots.
Places for this course are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, with payment of the course fee securing a place.
