The very popular one day wax processing course From Comb to Candles and More is running again this year on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May, in conjunction with Yorkshire Beekeepers Association.
Run by experienced tutors, the course will cover:
- Steam extraction - wax from frames
- Steam extraction - brace comb and cappings
- Further wax cleaning using water
- Filtering wax for candle making, etc.
- Introduction to wicks and candle making
- Rolling, moulding and dipping candles
- Making wax flowers
- Foundation making
Tea, coffee and biscuits are available all day. Bring your own lunch. Wear old clothes or bring overalls - wax processing is messy!
The course is being held at both the Hives and Honey Pavilion and Normanby Pavilion at the Great Yorkshire Showground.
There are only 20 places for each day of the course. Until the end of February, 10 places for each day are reserved for members of HRBKA and 10 for members of YBKA. Booking is on a first come, first served basis. From 1st March, any remaining places will be open to anyone including people from beekeeping associations further afield.
If you would like to secure a place on this course please visit the wax course booking page on the Yorkshire Beekeepers Website.
